The plural of octopus is usually octopuses. Less used is octopods; but it is a good version of its Greek language roots. Octopus may also be used for the order or sub-order as well as this particular genus. Though some think, “Since the plural of cactus  is cacti, wouldn’t the plural of octopus be octopi?” However, octopi  is not really correct, because that plural derives from Latin.
